Ronald Keijzer Roars Back To Win Event #5: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty for $160,725

Ronald Keijzer went into heads-up play facing an eight-to-one chip disadvantage after Josh Arieh stormed through the rest of the final table, but the Dutch pro remained unphased, fighting all the way to the top of the mountain to collect $80,000 in bounties and the first-place prize of $80,275 in Event #5: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty presented by PLO Mastermind. 

Keizjer started his climb with just under two million chips and quickly scored a double up when his top two pair of aces and sevens held against Arieh's bottom of sevens and fours to move to four million in chips. 

Keijzer had a steady upswing from there as he nearly doubled his chip stack without many showdowns before he found himself all in for his tournament life with on a flop of against the of Arieh. 

Once again, Keijzer found himself needing to hold against Arieh's draw. When the turn and river bricked out, Keijzer had completely flipped the script, as he now held 90% of the chips in play. 

Despite the tumble and preparing to catch a flight back home for his upcoming wedding, Arieh would not back down from the challenge as he was able to build his chip stack back and then scored a double with a turned full house to cut Keijzer down to just under two-to-one lead. 

However, that would be as close as Arieh would get, as Keijzer put the final nail in the coffin when he flopped a wheel and the nut flush draw against Arieh's inferior flush draw. Arieh had three outs to a better straight, but the turn and river bricked, leaving Arieh to collect his $31,000 in bounties plus a bitter sweat second-place prize of $80,275.

While the heads-up play was mostly all Keijzer, the early part of the final table was all Arieh, thanks to a huge three-way all-in five-handed between himself, Bruno Furth, and Ben Lamb. 

Arieh, who had doubled through Furth a few hands earlier into the chip lead, opened to 210,000 from under the gun, and Lamb potted to 750,000 with roughly 110,000 behind next to act. The action folded to Furth in the big blind, and he four-bet pot to 2,000,000. Arieh moved all-in, having both players covered, Lamb and Furth called, and a nearly eight million chip pot was at hand. 

None of the three players held a pocket pair, and Arieh's Ace-King-Jack with nut clubs held the edge against Furth's double-suited Ace-Ten, with spades and clubs and Lamb's single-suited Ace-King of hearts. 

Arieh turned a king-high straight, leaving Lamb drawing dead to a chop, and Furth needed to improve on his two pair to stay alive. The river failed to pair the board, Furth headed to the payout desk to collect his $15,000 in bounties plus the fourth place of $33,360, and Lamb headed to the payout desk in fifth place for $25,020 plus $5,000 in bounties.

Kamel Mokhammad made his first appearance at a PGT final table, but the Ukrainian Pro never found his footing and failed to win a hand. The start-of-day short stack was happy to sit back and watch as he scored three ladders before falling to Arieh in third place for $43,789 plus the $15,000 in bounties he picked up.

Blake Hanson also made his first career PGT final table, but the experience was short-lived. He was the first player out the door when Keijzer's single-suited aces cracked his double-suited aces by turning the nut flush, sending the Arizona native home in sixth place for $20,850 plus $8,000 in bounties, as he 5x'd his career live tournament winnings.

Keijzer Vaults to Top of PGT PLO Series presented by PLO Mastermind Leaderboard

Event #5 saw 139 entrants make their way into the PokerGO Studio, creating a prize pool of $695,000 with the top 20 players finishing in the money, meaning there were 140 PGT points up for grabs at the top and thanks to his two previous cashes Keijzer now sits atop the overall series leaderboard with 246 points, six points ahead of Event #4 Champion Samuli Sipila. 

Fellow final tableists Arieh and Furth join Keijzer in the top ten as they each picked up their second cash of the series. They now sit in eighth and tenth place overall, respectively, and are separated by just seven points. 

Also picking up his second cash of the series was Event #2 Champion Eelis Parssinen, as he rounds out the top three with 190 points, 56 points behind Keijzer. 

Bryce Yockey continued his early string of success as he cashed in his fourth event of the series to break a time for fifth place with Daniel Negreanu and now sits alone in the top five with 171 points. 

PGT Regulars Nick Schulman, Erik Siedel, and James Chen (US) all picked up their first cash of the series, while Alex Livingston, Anuj Agarwal, and Dylan Weissman picked up their second cash but have work to do with five events remaining in the series. Agarwal is the closest to cracking the top ten, sitting 12 points behind Furth in 12th.
